My work is always related to memories. Every day, we create and lose memories. In my paintings, where everything is out of focus, there is always a distance that can never be closed, no matter how close you get. From afar, it seems clear, but the closer you approach, the blurrier it becomes, much like our memories.
Artist Statement
My work centers on memory, movement, and what remains. I am drawn to the subtle gestures of people, the traces of time on their bodies, and the fleeting encounters that shape life. When I first arrived in Germany and walked among strangers, I realized the quiet value of ordinary connections. This shifted my focus from grand narratives to the beauty of what may seem insignificant. I observe people in daily life, sketch their gestures on small canvases, and later expand them to life-size. Light and memory lie at the heart of my process, as I aim to capture not literal likeness but the air and sensation of a fading moment. Through my paintings, I hope viewers will pause for moments they might have passed by, and see again the ones whose value is revealed only after time has passed.
